This module provides specialist training in the assessment of permanent spinal impairment in accordance with Chapter 4 of the NSW Workers Compensation Guidelines for the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, 4th Edition (the Guidelines) and Chapter 15 of the American Medical Association's Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, Fifth Edition (AMA5). Participants will develop an understanding of the principles, processes and methodologies used to assess spinal impairment arising from work-related injury.
This module provides a systematic approach to assessing spinal impairment using the Diagnostic Related Estimate (DRE) method and the NSW Guidelines. Participants will learn how to assess cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine injuries, determine whole person impairment (WPI), and apply key assessment principles through practical case studies and worked examples.
