Successful completion of the Core Module is required before enrolling in this specialist body system module.
This module provides specialist training in the assessment of permanent impairment arising from hearing loss in accordance with Chapter 9 of the NSW Workers Compensation Guidelines for the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, 4th Edition (the Guidelines). Participants will develop an understanding of the principles, processes and methodologies used to assess hearing impairment arising from work-related injury. The module focuses on the application of the National Acoustic Laboratories (NAL) methodology, which is the primary method used for hearing loss assessments in the NSW workers compensation system.
Designed for specialist medical practitioners seeking accreditation as Permanent Impairment Assessors in the NSW Workers Compensation Scheme, this module provides a systematic approach to assessing hearing loss using the Guidelines, NAL Report No. 118 and the relevant sections of AMA5.
